At Fortress, we believe the best wines are mindful of their regional roots. We’re proud of our Sonoma heritage, it’s what drives our dedication to Sonoma’s exceptional Cabernet lands, especially as the terrain climbs up toward the ridges of the Mayacamas Mountains. We’ve made it our mission to champion the region’s stronghold of Cabernet Sauvignon from these higher elevation sites.
A bold, yet strikingly elegant, Cabernet Sauvignon with dark fruit and hints of spice, Fortress’ dynamic palate makes it a perfect pairing for grilled meats, such as American Kobe beef, or to be enjoyed by itself while relaxing with friends and family.
Our winemaking is relatively uncomplicated and straightforward: Focus on the vineyard, use time-honored, minimalist winemaking techniques, and let the fruit shine through. Fortress is largely estate-grown from vineyards situated on the ridges above Alexander Valley and hillsides at the base of Mount St. Helena in Knights Valley. Our winegrowing is guided by responsible farming practices that enable vines to produce smaller, intense fruit clusters, resulting in a wine with structure, weight and texture.
Fortress Cabernet Sauvignon delivers aromas of dark fruit, mocha and baking spices on the nose. The palate exhibits well integrated tannins that complement the subtle earthy flavors of pomegranate, blackberry and sweet pipe tobacco. With a rich, opulent mouth feel, Fortress is an approachable wine with a silky, lush finish.
